Tsunami and tidal waves are practically the same thing. A tsunami is powerful wave created by an underwater earthquake and/or submarine landslide . While a tidal wave is caused by an underwater earthquake or volcanic eruption. So therefore a tidal wave is a tsunami because both have the same effect.

If you live near the beach or ocean its best is you keep a safety backpack just in case of a tsunami. In the backpack you should keep a cellphone, water bottles flashlights, and a first aid kit.
